Mapeprim SP is a two-component primer (A+B) that, after thorough mixing and application to the substrate, dries to form a compact, water-resistant film that is durable against aging. As it is water-dispersed, Mapeprim SP poses no flammability issues and can be stored without special precautions. This synthetic resin-based primer guarantees excellent adhesion with smoothing and levelling compounds, as well as cementitious mortars, specifically designed for non-absorbent and challenging substrates. Mapeprim SP is particularly effective on smooth, impervious surfaces, such as existing tile or stone flooring.
Key Points:
Two-Component Formula: Mapeprim SP consists of two components (A+B) that must be accurately mixed before application.
Water-Resistant and Durable: After drying, it forms a compact film that is resistant to water and aging.
Non-Flammable: The water-dispersed formulation eliminates flammability concerns, allowing for safe storage.
Ideal for Difficult Surfaces: Specifically designed for non-absorbent and challenging substrates, it ensures excellent bonding with smoothing compounds and cementitious mortars, particularly on existing tile or stone flooring.

Mapeprim SP is a synthetic resin-based primer designed to provide optimal bonding with smoothing and levelling compounds, as well as cementitious mortars, on non-absorbent and challenging substrates.
Application Examples:
Smoothing and Levelling: Ideal for preparing smooth, compact cementitious floors and levelling existing ceramic tile or natural stone surfaces when used with smoothing compounds like Ultraplan or Planolit.
Surface Preparation: Prepares anhydrite, magnesium, and gypsum surfaces before smoothing or tile installation.
Versatile Substrate Preparation: Suitable for various surfaces, including cast asphalt, wood, chipboard, metal sheeting, PVC, and painted surfaces.
Preparation of the substrate The substrate must be dry, clean, free from oil, grease, paint residue, loose plaster and laitance. Mapeprim SP should not be applied when the substrate is damp or subject to rising damp. Preparation of the primer Mapeprim SP is composed of two prepackaged components (A+B), of different colours (light blue and white), which must be mixed in equal proportions to obtain a homogeneous colour. Use the primer within 3 hours of mixing. Applying the primer 2 Mapeprim SP can be applied with a brush, roller, rubber oat, or smooth trowel in an amount varying from 100 to 200 g/m, according to the degree of absorption and texture of the substrate. To improve workability, Mapeprim SP can be diluted with approx. 5-10% water. Before applying the smoothing compound or the mortar, wait until the primer has turned transparent but remains tacky. Dependent on the type of substrate, temperature, humidity and ventilation on site, drying occurs in approx. 1-3 hours. However, waiting longer than 24 hours is not recommended.
