ARDEX DPM 1 C R is a rapid-drying, one-coat, two-component epoxy resin designed for fast-track installations, forming a durable damp-proof membrane with high bond strength, able to accommodate moisture readings up to 98% RH. It resists water, grease, oil, aqueous salt solutions, and dilute mineral and organic acids. Ideal for creating a damp-proof barrier, is used to suppress residual moisture in sound, well-compacted concrete slabs and cement/sand screeds with moisture readings up to 98% RH. It can also be applied in thinner layers for moisture suppression in concrete up to 92% RH and on Calcium Sulphate screeds up to 90% RH under specific conditions.
Key Points:
- One-Coat Epoxy Resin: Provides rapid drying in a single coat, ideal for fast-track installations.
- High Bond Strength and Moisture Accommodation: Creates a strong membrane that can handle moisture readings up to 98% RH.
- Resistant to Contaminants: Highly resistant to water, grease, oil, salt solutions, and dilute acids.
- Versatile Use in Moisture Management: Effective for damp-proofing concrete without an existing DPM and suppresses residual moisture in concrete and Calcium Sulphate screeds up to specified RH levels.

ARDEX DPM 1 C R is designed to provide a damp-proof membrane or to control residual moisture in sound, well-compacted concrete slabs and cement/sand screeds with moisture levels up to 98% RH. It can be applied as a damp-proof barrier for damp concrete where there is no effective structural damp-proof membrane, protecting against ground moisture. For moisture suppression in these substrates, a thinner layer of ARDEX DPM 1 C R may be applied where readings are up to 92% RH. It is also suitable for Calcium Sulphate screeds with RH readings up to 90%, provided certain conditions are met.
Moisture Testing and Substrate Preparation:
Moisture testing should follow BS 8203 guidelines. Before application, the substrate must be hard, clean, and free of dust, laitance, and contaminants like paint, lime coatings, plaster, and adhesive residues. Any non-moisture-resistant screeds or smoothing compounds must be removed, along with any surface hardeners or curing agents that could affect adhesion. Contaminated or very smooth surfaces should be mechanically prepared, exposing a clean, sound surface for treatment. Remove dust and fines with industrial vacuum equipment. Uneven, rough, or porous surfaces may reduce ARDEX DPM 1 C R coverage, so pre-smoothing with ARDITEX NA is advised.
Calcium Sulphate Screeds:
For calcium sulphate screeds with >75% RH, ARDEX DPM 1 C R can be applied if:
- The screed manufacturer approves an epoxy DPM.
- The subfloor has an effective damp-proof membrane, with residual construction moisture only.
- The screed has cured for over 28 days and has a minimum surface tensile strength of 1.0 N/mm².
- Moisture is below 1.5% w/w or 90% RH.
- No underfloor heating or timber flooring is present. If these conditions are met, apply ARDEX DPM 1 C R at 350 microns and cover with ARDITEX NA within 4-16 hours.
Movement Joints:
Movement or structural joints should not be covered with ARDEX DPM 1 C R. These joints require a flexible, waterproof jointing system and should extend through the floor finish. Non-moving cracks should be stitched and filled with a resin before applying the DPM.
Mixing:
Components A and B are pre-measured. Add the hardener (B) to the resin (A), mixing with a spiral paddle until uniform. To reduce residue, pour some of the mixed material back into the B container, mix for 30 seconds, then return it to the main mix. Use within 20 minutes at 20°C, adjusting for temperature. At high temperatures, spread immediately to prevent heat buildup.
Application:
Apply ARDEX DPM 1 C R evenly with a V-notched trowel, then smooth the ridges with a short-pile roller. Ensure a continuous, pinhole-free film, using a wet film thickness gauge. Additional coats may be needed on porous screeds.
