ARDEX MVS 95 is a ready-to-use, one-component, water-based dispersion coating available in pre-gauged 12kg units. This pigmented blue coating indicates uniform coverage and becomes waterproof once fully cured. Designed to suppress residual construction moisture in cementitious substrates, including properly prepared power-floated concrete and cement/sand screeds, ARDEX MVS 95 is intended for use as a two-coat system. When fully dry, it creates a membrane that can accommodate hygrometer readings of up to 95% relative humidity (RH) and allows the subsequent application of ARDEX leveling and smoothing compounds without the need for priming. It is suitable for use on heated screeds installed and commissioned according to BS 8204 Part 1 and the recommendations in Part 4 of BS EN 1264, but it should not be applied directly to ground substrates without a functioning structural damp proof membrane. For applications lacking a structural damp proof membrane or where relative humidity exceeds 95% RH, consult the ARDEX DPM 1 C or ARDEX DPM 1 C R datasheet.
Key Points
- Product Overview: ARDEX MVS 95 is a water-based dispersion coating supplied in 12kg units, designed to suppress residual moisture in cementitious substrates.
- Waterproofing: The pigmented blue coating provides visual guidance for uniform coverage and becomes waterproof when fully cured.
- Moisture Tolerance: Two coats accommodate hygrometer readings up to 95% RH and allow for the direct application of leveling and smoothing compounds without priming.
- Usage Restrictions: Not suitable for direct application on ground substrates without a structural damp proof membrane; consult specific datasheets for alternatives.
Storage: Store ARDEX MVS 95 in a dry location, away from direct sunlight, and within a temperature range of 5°C to 30°C. Protect it from frost. The product has a shelf life of at least 12 months when kept in its original, unopened containers.

ARDEX MVS95 is specifically formulated to suppress residual construction moisture in cementitious substrates, including properly prepared power-floated concrete and cement/sand screeds. This product is intended for application as a two-coat system and effectively manages residual moisture in concrete slabs and cement/sand screeds. It is suitable for use on subfloors with relative humidity levels of up to 95% RH.
Substrate Preparation
Before applying ARDEX MVS95, ensure the surface is hard, dry, sound, and free of dust, laitance, dirt, and any other materials that could hinder adhesion, such as paint, lime coatings, plaster, or adhesive residues. Remove any standing water from the surface. Highly polished power-floated concrete, as well as curing agents, admixtures, and surface hardeners, may also affect adhesion. If there is any uncertainty regarding compatibility, perform a trial adhesion test with ARDEX MVS95 before proceeding. Any incompatible materials should be removed through grinding or shot blasting as needed.
Movement Joints
Do not bridge any joints or cracks in the floor that are subject to movement, such as structural movement joints, with ARDEX MVS95. Treat these joints with a flexible, impervious jointing system before application. Ensure structural movement joints are carried through to the final floor finish with an appropriate joint detail. For cracks in the screed or concrete that are not subject to movement but may compromise ARDEX MVS95, fully stitch and seal them with the appropriate ARDEX product, sand key while still wet, and allow to cure before applying ARDEX MVS95. Vacuum away any loose sand prior to application.
Application
Stir ARDEX MVS95 well before use. Do not add water or dilute the product, as it is ready to use. Avoid using ARDEX MVS95 when air temperatures are below 10°C and/or substrate temperatures are below 5°C. Apply an even coat using a suitable short-pile roller in one direction over the designated area. Depending on the applied film thickness, porosity of the subfloor, and ambient conditions, ARDEX MVS95 may dry in as little as 30 minutes at 20°C. Drying times may be longer in lower temperatures or high humidity. Once the first coat is touch dry, apply a second coat at right angles to the first. Ensure the applied ARDEX MVS95 forms a continuous film without pinholes, cavities, or thin patches; otherwise, additional applications may be required. Allow the surface to dry until it is tack-free, which will take approximately 1 hour at 20°C in good drying conditions. To protect the film, overlay ARDEX MVS95 with 3mm to a maximum of 10mm of an ARDEX Smoothing Compound, creating a uniform absorbent layer for subsequent floorcovering applications using the appropriate ARDEX Flooring Adhesive. Do not allow foot traffic between coats and ensure that no more than 24 hours elapse before applying the leveling and smoothing compound.
