Arbo SST is a high-performance, load-bearing PVC foam tape specifically designed to serve as a spacer between insulated glass (IG) units and frames in structural glazing assemblies. This specialized tape provides crucial support during the installation process, ensuring precise spacing and alignment for optimal structural integrity.

Arbo SST is ideal for use as a spacer in structurally glazed fabrications. It provides an effective short-term bond between the frame and the IG unit during the assembly process, creating a gap with precise dimensions for the structural silicone, which serves as the primary bond.
Surface Preparation:
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from any contaminants. Use the appropriate Arbo cleaner to thoroughly clean the surfaces. Some substrates may require primers for optimal adhesion. For specific primer recommendations, it is advised to consult with Adshead Ratcliffe Technical Services for expert guidance.
Application:
Unwind the Arbo SST tape and apply the ‘open’ face directly onto the frame. Cut the tape to the required length, ensuring tight butt joints at the corners. Firmly press the tape onto the surface using your hands or a seam roller. Remove the protective liner just before glazing, then carefully position the IG unit onto the tape and apply pressure to consolidate the bond. Once in place, the structural silicone can be applied.
Limitations:
Arbo SST is designed solely as a spacer and will not form load-bearing structural bonds.
