Data Sheets
Cromar AlphaChem Web Spray Bulk Tank is a high-quality spray adhesive designed for fast drying and permanent bonding across a wide range of substrates.
Key Points:
Versatile Bonding: The Web Spray Bulk Tank is suitable for permanently bonding various materials including wood, metals, rubber, most plastics, cardboard, polythene, concrete, and decorative laminates.
Multi-Purpose Application: Ideal for a wide variety of substrates, providing excellent initial bond strength for permanent bonds.
Temperature Resistance: Offers good temperature resistance and, when protected from contamination, boasts an open time of several hours.
Storage and Shelf Life: Must be stored between 15°C and 35°C in a controlled environment, away from direct sunlight, and protected from freezing. Stored correctly, in original, unopened containers, the product has a shelf life of 12 months.
Always conduct a small sample test of the materials before application to ensure suitability, particularly when dealing with vinyls containing plasticizers that may affect the bond over time. Storage conditions are crucial for maintaining the adhesive’s effectiveness, with temperature extremes and freezing potentially leading to irreparable separation. With AlphaChem Web Spray, achieve reliable and long-lasting bonds for various applications.

APPLICATION
Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned, devoid of grease, oil, and dust, as excessive dust can compromise performance. Optimal bonding occurs when both the substrate and adhesive are applied within a temperature range of 15˚C to 25˚C.
- Attach an appropriate spray nozzle to the spray gun.
- Connect the hose to the canister and the spray gun to the hose, ensuring tight connections. Tighten any leaking connections at the source of the leak.
- Open the valve on the canister and keep it open until the adhesive is fully dispensed. After use, secure the locking nut on the gun to prevent adhesive from drying in the hose and gun, causing blockages.
- Hold the spray gun 10-20cm away from the surface at a 90° angle and apply a uniform coat of adhesive to both substrates, ensuring 80-100% coverage. Spray one surface vertically and the other horizontally, paying attention to the edges.
- Once the adhesive is dry to the touch, it is ready for bonding. Porous substrates may require two applications.
- Drying typically takes 1 to 2 minutes, depending on substrates, ambient temperature, and humidity. Avoid over-spraying and pooling of the adhesive, as this can increase drying time and cause the adhesive to show through the laminate.
- Remove the spray after application.
- Remember that Web Spray is a contact adhesive and forms a bond by adhering to itself. Ensure there is sufficient adhesive on both surfaces for bonding.
- Allow the adhesive to tack up and protect it from contamination during this process. The adhesive is ready for bonding when it feels dry to the touch and does not transfer.
- Once the surfaces are brought together, apply uniform pressure, starting from the middle and working outwards, using blocks or a 3-inch roller. Pay special attention to the edges to ensure adequate contact of the adhesive.
- Avoid lifting the edge to test the bond, as this can weaken it. Instead, use a nip roller for the best results.
- After assembly, the piece can be machined or trimmed as needed.
- Full cure will take 24 hours.
- Keep the valve open and the hose attached to the canister until all adhesive is dispensed. If the hose is removed, clean it thoroughly with a solvent cleaner to prevent adhesive from drying and causing blockages in the gun and hose. Turn off the canister before removing the hose.
LIMITATIONS
- Before proceeding with the application, it’s crucial to conduct a small test on a sample of the materials to verify the product’s compatibility with the intended application. Certain vinyls may contain significant levels of plasticizer that could potentially migrate and compromise the bond over time. When uncertain, always perform a test beforehand.
- Avoid using the product on flexible PVC or expanded polystyrene surfaces.
- The user assumes responsibility for ensuring the product’s suitability for the intended use.
- Prior to application, carefully review the label for essential health and safety information. Additional details can be found in the Safety Data Sheet.
