Roof Waterproofing: Cromar Roofing Emulsion offers an affordable, long-lasting waterproof solution when applied under dry conditions. It is ideal for use on concrete, fibre/cement, roofing felt, mastic asphalt, corrugated iron, slates, tiles, lead, copper, and zinc to create an effective water and moisture barrier.

Metal Protection: This emulsion also protects pipes, structural steelwork, and other metallic equipment from corrosion, ensuring longevity and reliability.

Insulation: It serves as a vapour barrier for cold storage rooms, mushroom houses, and similar environments, helping to maintain optimal conditions.

Water-based, Cromar Roofing Emulsion provides a durable waterproofing treatment, best applied during dry weather conditions. Avoid use in the rain to ensure effectiveness.

Preparation

Before applying, ensure the surface is structurally sound, clean, dry, and free from contaminants like grease, rust, and dirt. If necessary, remove any organic growth (e.g., moss or lichen) using Moss & Mould Remover. If the surface remains dusty after cleaning or is covered with weathered bitumen, prime it with Cromar Bituminous Primer and allow it to dry. Any blisters in existing felt should be split, dried, re-bonded, and sealed. Address any cracks, defective upstands, or splits using Cromar Trowel Mastic. Prime porous or friable surfaces with Bituminous Primer and allow to dry.

Application

Stir well before use. Apply by brush, ensuring a minimum of two coats at 0.75 litres per m² per coat. Allow 24 hours between coats, applying each one at right angles to the previous. Cromar Roofing Emulsion can be applied to damp surfaces, but both the coating and surface must dry before the emulsion cures into a waterproof film. For enhanced strength, durability, and flexibility, reinforce the first coat with an open woven glass fibre membrane (with at least a 50mm overlap). Follow this with two additional coats of Cromar Roofing Emulsion, applied at the same coverage rate.

To extend the life of the dried coating, it’s recommended to apply a suitable decorative, solar reflective paint as a top coat. Protect the surface from rain and frost until fully cured.
