This off-white, ready-mixed polymer-based tile adhesive is designed for fixing ceramic wall tiles, including mosaics and vitrified tiles, in interior spaces like kitchens and bathrooms when used with waterproof grout. It offers excellent grip properties, reducing or eliminating the need for battens or spacers, and features high spreadability for easy application by both DIY users and professionals. With strong bonding strength and unique non-slip properties, it allows for tile repositioning during installation. However, it is not suitable for swimming pools, prolonged wet conditions, porcelain or large-format tiles, or areas with rising or penetrating damp. CE approved for quality assurance.

SUPER-GRIP is ideal for fixing all types of ceramic wall tiles, including mosaics and vitrified tiles, in interior spaces such as bathrooms, kitchens, and domestic shower areas when used with waterproof grout. Its excellent grip properties minimize or eliminate the need for battens or spacers. Designed for both DIY enthusiasts and professionals, it offers easy application with smooth spreading characteristics, making it a versatile, general-purpose adhesive.
Preparation
The substrate must be clean, structurally sound, and free from dust, oil, grease, or loose coatings. The surface should be level to ensure the adhesive thickness does not exceed 3mm. Rough or uneven surfaces should be leveled with a suitable filler or plaster and allowed to dry before applying a 2-3mm layer of SUPER-GRIP. Porous surfaces must be primed with Bond It PRIMER & FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE—PVA is not recommended.
- Plaster: Must be fully dry (minimum 4 weeks) and strong enough to support tiles. Only the finish coat should be tiled. Old or weak plaster should be replaced or treated with a bonding agent.
- Gypsum Finishing Plaster: Must be 4-6 weeks old, completely dry, and free from dust or loose material. Porous masonry surfaces should be primed with Bond It PRIMER & FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE. The maximum weight of tiles and adhesive on plaster is 20kg/m².
- Cement Render: Must be sound, dry, and at least 2 weeks old before application.
- Sheets & Boards: Wood-based surfaces should be dry, sealed on all sides, and primed. Timber boards should be waterproof-rated (15mm thick) and securely fixed at 150mm centers to provide a stable background. Boards should be level, with a 0.5-1mm gap to allow for expansion.
- Painted Surfaces: Check paint adhesion to the substrate. If loose, remove the coating. Hard gloss paints are usually acceptable but should be scored for better bonding. Emulsion paints, limewash, or similar coatings must be removed.
Application
Apply SUPER-GRIP with a notched trowel (5mm x 5mm at 10-25mm centers) to create a ribbed adhesive bed. Firmly press tiles into place using a twist-and-slide motion to ensure full contact. Check adhesion by occasionally removing a tile. For studded tiles, butter the back with adhesive before placing them.
- Tiles can be adjusted within 10 minutes of fixing.
- Do not spread more adhesive than can be tiled within 15 minutes (approx. 1m²).
- The final adhesive bed thickness should be 2-3mm, with grout joints at least 2mm wide.
- Wipe off any residue with a damp cloth and remove excess adhesive from grout joints.
- The spotting or blobbing method should not be used.
- For tiles larger than 250 x 300mm, use a cement-based adhesive like Bond It CTA FLEXIBLE.
- When applying cement-based adhesive to plaster or plasterboard, prime with Bond It PRIMER & FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE or Bond It SBR ADMIXTURE.
Open Time
The exposed adhesive bed remains workable for approximately 15 minutes, depending on conditions. Do not apply more adhesive than can be used within this period.
Drying Time
Final set occurs within 24-72 hours, depending on surface type and conditions. Drying times may be extended on impervious surfaces or with larger tiles. SUPER-GRIP should not be applied to walls affected by penetrating damp or when the room temperature is below +5°C.
Grouting
Grouting can begin once the tile bed is firm—typically 24 hours after fixing on porous surfaces and up to 3 days for impermeable surfaces, such as existing tiles or waterproof boards.
