Bond It Dec-Mate Flexible Filler is a quick-drying, permanently flexible interior decorators filler that adheres to most surfaces and allows for low movement in joints between different materials or substrates. It can be smoothed and over-painted within 1-2 hours of application, making it ideal for use on wood, plaster, brick, concrete, and plasterboard. DEC-MATE FLEXIBLE FILLER offers strong adhesion to most building materials, making it ideal for general repairs of small cracks and joints with low movement. It is perfect for use on wood, plaster, brick, concrete, and plasterboard.
Preparation:
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, sound, and free from dust, oil, or other contaminants that could affect adhesion. If needed, use a solvent such as acetone for degreasing, in addition to mechanical cleaning.
Priming:
DEC-MATE typically does not require a primer on most common construction surfaces. However, some surfaces like concrete may benefit from priming for optimal adhesion. Test a sample to determine if priming is necessary. For recommendations, contact Bond It Technical Service.
Application:
Apply with a standard sealant gun. Cut the tip from the cartridge carefully to avoid damaging the screw thread, then cut the nozzle at a 45° angle, ensuring it’s slightly larger than the gap to be sealed. Smooth down within 5 minutes using a slightly wetted spatula, sponge, or SEALANT APPLICATOR TOOL. Do not tool after the skin has formed or saturate the surface with water, as this will delay curing. It can be overpainted with water-based paints once the skin forms (around 1 hour) and with oil-based paints after it’s fully dry (24-48 hours). Clean tools with soapy water before the product cures and remove excess product with a damp cloth.
Limitations:
This product is not a silicone sealant and is not suitable for use when applied below +5°C, in joints constantly immersed in water, in contact with bituminous products, in areas of high abrasion (e.g., floor joints), in joints with movement over 7.5%, or on uPVC surfaces.
