Data Sheets
Bond It Floorbond CCT – A solvent-free acrylic emulsion that creates a permanently tacky film that allows for the removable fixing of “loose lay” carpet tiles, making it easy to lift and replace tiles when needed. It is non-staining, resistant to plasticiser migration, and can be applied using a roller or brush. Ideal for tiles with PVC, PVC/Glass fibre, Bitumen/Felt, non-woven fabric, and other polymer backings such as polyurethane and Hessian, it works well on substrates like concrete, cementitious screeds, chipboard, hardwood, plywood, smoothing compounds, and metal access floor panels. It can also be used over existing well-bonded resilient floor coverings, as long as they are cleaned of any wax, polish, or contaminants.
Key Points:
- Non-staining and resistant to plasticiser migration
- Non-flammable and permanently tacky
- Suitable for internal use only
- Can be applied to a variety of substrates and flooring materials
Coverage: 6-7m² per kilogram.

Bond It Floorbond CTT is ideal for installing carpet tiles with various backings, including PVC, PVC/Glass Fibre, Bitumen/Felt, non-woven fabric, and other polymer backings like polyurethane and Hessian. It can be applied to common substrates such as concrete, cementitious screeds, chipboard, hardboard, plywood, smoothing compounds, and metal access floor panels. It is also suitable for use over existing well-bonded resilient floor coverings, provided they are thoroughly cleaned of wax, polish, or other contaminants. Bond It CTT is compatible with underfloor heating systems, but the heating should be turned off at least 48 hours before and after installation. Please note that some chipboard products treated for fire or moisture resistance may not be suitable for adhesion—check with technical services if needed.
Preparation
Ensure that all installation phases comply with the latest standards, including:
- BS 8102: Code of Practice for protection against water from the ground.
- BS 5325: Code of Practice for the installation of textile floor coverings.
- BS 8203: Code of Practice for the installation of resilient floor coverings.
Sub-Floor
The sub-floor must be clean, dry, sound, and free from any contaminants such as surface hardeners and additives that could impair adhesion. It should also have an effective damp-proof membrane. Use a calibrated hygrometer to ensure the sub-floor is properly dry, with a reading of 75% RH or less indicating suitability. Any surface treatments or friable areas should be mechanically removed to reveal a sound concrete base. Repair any deep indentations with an appropriate patch repair product, and apply a smoothing compound where necessary, ensuring a minimum 3mm thickness. Thoroughly clean the surface, ideally by vacuuming, and remove all contaminants from existing resilient floor coverings.
Priming
Prime porous surfaces, including boards, with Bond It PVA Bond (diluted 1:4 with clean water) or other recommended primers, ensuring a drying time before application. This is crucial for hardboard, chipboard, and plywood. Ensure that the floor covering manufacturer recommends the floor covering for use with the specific substrate.
Application
Apply a consistent coating of Bond It CTT with a roller or brush, allowing it to dry to a clear, tacky film (approx. 30-40 minutes) before placing tiles. Drying times may vary depending on room and floor temperatures, sub-floor porosity, and adhesive thickness. Increased airflow will speed up the drying process. When applying to metal access floor panels, be careful to avoid adhesive flowing between panel joints. Ensure that tiles are not placed before the adhesive has fully dried to a tacky film, as this may cause permanent bonding.
Finishing
Although an immediate bond forms when tiles are placed, it’s recommended to use a weighted roller or glider (if advised by the manufacturer) to ensure proper contact and to eliminate air bubbles.
Cleaning
Clean tools immediately with water while the adhesive is still wet. If the adhesive is uncured, it can be wiped off the floor covering with a damp cloth, but make sure not to let it dry.
