Sikafloor-131 Level Latex Ultra is ideal for floating floors, floors with underfloor heating, sand/cement screeds (excluding anhydrite), concrete slabs, precast elements, as well as existing ceramic and rigid plastic tiles.
APPLICATION
Substrate Quality and Pre-Treatment:
For wet or humid rooms like bathrooms, Sikafloor®-131 Level Latex Ultra must be covered with a damp-proof membrane such as SikaBond® Rapid DPM. Turn off underfloor heating systems 24 hours before application and keep them off for 24 hours afterward. Ensure the floor temperature exceeds 5°C. Fill holes and cavities with a suitable cement-based repair mortar, allowing it to fully cure, and protect all joints and cavities to prevent leakage. Concrete or screeds must be at least 28 days old and have an effective damp-proof membrane. Surfaces should be clean, dry, structurally sound, and free from materials like residual adhesives, bitumen, grease, oil, or loose paint that may affect adhesion.
Priming:
- Normal Absorbent Concrete/Screed: No primer is typically required. Dampen the floor with clean water (without puddling) and allow it to surface dry. If water absorbs immediately, treat as a porous surface.
- Porous Concrete/Screed: Seal with SikaBond® PVA+ (1:4 water ratio) for internal use or SikaBond® SBR (1:3 water ratio) for external use. For highly porous surfaces, multiple coats may be needed to prevent pinholes and debonding.
- Non-Porous/Dense Substrates: Mechanically roughen surfaces (e.g., quarry tiles or smooth concrete) or apply a bonding coat of undiluted SikaBond® PVA+ (or SBR externally) and allow it to become tacky before application.
Application:
Mix 25 kg of Sikafloor®-131 Level Latex Ultra with 5 L of water, adding the powder to water while stirring until a smooth, free-flowing compound forms. Pour onto the prepared floor and allow it to level naturally, using a trowel to achieve a maximum thickness of 10 mm. For depths between 10-25 mm, mix 1 part clean, dry sharp sand with 1 part Sikafloor®-131, reducing water slightly before adding sand and adjusting to the correct consistency. Allow 3 days curing before exposing to vehicular traffic at 20°C (longer in cooler conditions).
Limitations:
- Always use clean water and prime floors as directed.
- Not suitable for resisting rising damp; use a liquid damp-proof membrane where required.
- Never exceed the stated water quantity to avoid strength loss and cracking.
- Do not use on tarmac, asphalt, or anhydrite screeds, or below 5°C.
- Turn off underfloor heating 24 hours before and after application.
- Concrete screeds must be at least 4 weeks old before overlaying.
- Do not mix more than can be applied in 20 minutes, and never reconstitute once set.
