Arbokol 682 Pouring Grade is a two-part epoxy polysulphide sealant designed to fully encapsulate glass within an appropriate channel, in line with the relevant British Standards. When mixed, it cures to create a durable sealant with slight movement accommodation. Its self-leveling formulation allows for quick and easy application, offering excellent adhesion to glass, concrete, stone, metals, and other common building substrates.

Arbokol 682 Gun Grade is also a two-part epoxy polysulphide sealant, designed to fully encapsulate glass within a channel according to the relevant British Standards. Upon mixing, it cures into a tough sealant with a small degree of movement accommodation. Its thixotropic formulation makes it suitable for various glass balustrade installations requiring a sealant.

For the installation of glass balustrades as recommended in BS 6180:1999, Arbokol 682 Gun Grade can be used as a secondary seal for IG units.

 

 

Application Instructions

Joint Preparation: Ensure joint surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contamination. Degrease surfaces using the appropriate Arbo Cleaner. All joint preparation, priming, and sealant application should be carried out in accordance with BS 8000 Part 16, the British Standard for the sealing of joints in buildings using sealants. For balustrades, refer to BS6180:1999.

Mixing: The performance of Arbokol 682 Gun Grade is controlled by the base-to-curing agent ratio. Tins are filled to the exact mixing ratio, so it is crucial to add the entire contents of the Curing Agent tin to the Base tin. Thoroughly mix the two components to ensure complete homogeneity.

Application: Once mixed, the sealant is typically transferred to cartridges or a bulk-loading gun using a follower plate.

Glass Balustrade Installation Procedure:

  1. Insert setting blocks at the bottom of the channel.
  2. Apply Arbokol 682 Gun Grade to partially fill the channel void.
  3. Insert the glass and position it on the setting blocks.
  4. Insert hardwood packers on both sides of the glass. Typically, these are back-to-back wedges to centralize the glass. Ensure a gap between adjacent glass panels to prevent shock transfer.
  5. Top up any voids with additional Arbokol 682 application.
  6. For external balustrades, recess Arbokol 682 Gun Grade at least 5mm below the sight line and cap with Arbosil 1096 to form a chamfered weather seal.
