ARDEX AF 145 is a water-based, solvent-free floorcovering adhesive with low odor, formulated from an acrylic emulsion for both pressure-sensitive and wet-bond applications. It features a quick application process with a reduced airing time and extended open time, creating a high bond strength and long-lasting tack. The adhesive is protected from biodegradation, resists plasticiser migration, and meets EMICODE EC1 PLUS standards for low emissions. ARDEX AF 145 is suitable for use with all types of vinyl floorcoverings and is compatible with ARDEX’s Latex and Water-Based Levelling Compounds, making it ideal for commercial and residential installations.

Key Points:

  1. Water-based, solvent-free adhesive with low odor and acrylic emulsion formulation.
  2. Quick application with high bond strength, permanent tack, and long open time.
  3. Resistant to biodegradation and plasticiser migration, meeting EC1 PLUS low-emission standards.
  4. Suitable for all vinyl floorcoverings and compatible with ARDEX leveling compounds for various installations.

ARDEX AF 145 is perfect for installing all types of vinyl floorcoverings and is compatible with all ARDEX Latex and Water-Based Levelling and Smoothing Compounds, making it suitable for both commercial and residential settings.

Priming: Priming is generally not required for ARDEX AF 145. However, on highly absorbent surfaces, using ARDEX P 51 Priming and Bonding Agent diluted 1:3 with clean, cold water can be beneficial. This helps maintain working time and ensures maximum adhesive coverage.

Substrate Preparation: Ensure the subfloor has an effective damp-proof membrane and is dry, with a relative humidity of 75% or below. If the subfloor lacks a damp-proof membrane or exceeds 75% RH, refer to the ARDEX Moisture Control guide or contact ARDEX Technical Services. The subfloor should be hard, clean, smooth, and free from barrier materials, as per BS 8203 and BS 8204 standards. Remove any dust with a vacuum before applying the adhesive. Uneven subfloors should be leveled with suitable ARDEX Levelling Compounds like ARDITEX NA or ARDEX K 39. For repairs up to 50mm thick, use ARDEX ARDURAPID A 45, and for minor surface imperfections, ARDEX FEATHER FINISH is recommended. Wood-based underlays should be at their equilibrium moisture content before covering.

Mixing: ARDEX AF 145 is ready to use; however, for best results, thoroughly mix the adhesive to ensure even polymer dispersion before application.

Application: Maintain the installation area temperature according to floorcovering manufacturer guidelines and BS 8203 standards, both before and after installation (48 hours each). Apply ARDEX AF 145 evenly with the correct serrated trowel, held at a 60° angle to prevent pooling. For Pressure Sensitive – Dry Bond applications, allow 20–40 minutes for the adhesive to reach full tack, then lay the floorcovering, ensuring alignment. For Wet Bond installations, apply only as much adhesive as needed, and check adhesive transfer periodically. Roll the floorcovering with a 68kg roller to ensure full contact and remove any air pockets.

Underfloor Heating: Commission underfloor heating systems according to manufacturer instructions or BS 8203 and BS 8204 guidelines. For moisture testing, turn off the heating 48 hours beforehand, and keep the system stable at room temperature (not below 15°C) during installation. Allow the adhesive to cure for at least 48 hours at constant temperature before gradually increasing the heat.

High Temperature: ARDEX AF 145 is suitable for use with underfloor heating systems and resists high temperatures, provided the floor surface does not exceed 30°C. In areas with prolonged solar gain, consider using ARDEX AF 2575 PLUS or ARDEX AF 2525 Heavy Duty Adhesives.
