ARDEX AF 635 is a heavy-duty, solvent-free contact adhesive designed for securely bonding floorcovering accessories and profiles to various internal surfaces, including walls, ceilings, and stairs. With its high initial tack and excellent bond strength, ARDEX AF 635 is suitable for both porous and non-porous surfaces, providing strong resistance to plasticiser migration. It is ideal for fixing vinyl, linoleum, textiles, rubber floorcoverings, flexible stair nosings, skirtings, and stair stringers, and is compatible with subfloors that incorporate hot water underfloor heating systems.
Key points:
- High Bond Strength: Offers a strong initial tack and durable bond for secure installations.
- Versatile Use: Suitable for a wide range of materials, including vinyl, linoleum, rubber, and textiles.
- Compatible with Various Surfaces: Adheres to both porous and non-porous substrates, such as alloys and steel.
- Internal Applications Only: Designed specifically for internal use, including areas with underfloor heating.
Coverage: When applied with a short pile velour roller or brush, ARDEX AF 635 covers approximately 400-500 g/m² for textile flooring, linoleum, and impact walls. Actual consumption may vary depending on the surface texture and absorbency of the subfloor, as well as application technique.
Storage: ARDEX AF 635 has a shelf life of at least 12 months when stored in its original, unopened container at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C.

ARDEX AF 635 is suitable for bonding a variety of materials, including vinyl, linoleum, textiles (such as needle punch), rubber floorcoverings, flexible stair nosings, vinyl and rubber skirtings, as well as accessories and flexible stair stringers. This adhesive can be applied to both porous and non-porous substrates, including alloys and steel, and is compatible with subfloors that feature hot water underfloor heating systems.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
If an effective damp proof membrane is not present or if the relative humidity of the subfloor exceeds 75%, please consult the ARDEX Moisture Control brochure or contact ARDEX Technical Services for guidance on the appropriate product selection. All surfaces, including walls and floors, must be hard, clean, free from barrier materials, sound, and smooth, in accordance with British Standards. Before applying ARDEX AF 635, remove any dust using suitable vacuum equipment, as dust can negatively impact both coverage and adhesive performance. To achieve a level surface for adhesion, any necessary leveling, smoothing, or repairs should be conducted with the appropriate ARDEX product and allowed to dry before adhesive application.
MIXING
ARDEX AF 635 is ready for immediate use; however, for optimal performance, it should be thoroughly mixed to ensure even dispersion of the polymers before application.
APPLICATION
Maintain the installation area and substrates at the recommended temperature specified by the floorcovering manufacturer and British Standards for 48 hours prior to, during, and 48 hours after installation. Apply ARDEX AF 635 using a short-pile roller or paintbrush, first to the covering/profile and then to the substrate. This approach can reduce the waiting time for the adhesive to air sufficiently.
PRECAUTIONS
Please ensure that surfaces coated with ARDEX AF 635 are joined within the open time of 6 hours. Once adhered, apply maximum even pressure to consolidate the bond. Use a cork board, hand roller, or soft rubber mallet to achieve full contact between both surfaces. A hot air gun may be employed to accelerate drying time, which can also make cove or skirting materials more flexible for fitting in corners and along edges. However, avoid excessive heat on resilient products to prevent deformation. Do not perform hot welding on vinyl flooring for at least 24 hours post-installation. For small areas, stair nosing, and corners, we recommend applying the adhesive with a brush. The airing time is approximately 20-50 minutes depending on the subfloor’s absorbability and around 150 minutes for heavily textured textile flooring, preferably overnight. Floors can be walked on immediately after application.
