ARDEX FLEX FS is a versatile, cement-based grouting compound known for its flexibility and water-repellent qualities, eliminating the need for a separate admix. It comes in a variety of sizes and colors, including Brilliant White, Dove Grey, and Black, among others. The grouting compound is available in 2.5kg, 5kg, and 10kg sizes in several colors, and in 2.5kg and 10kg sizes for additional colors such as Organic Earth and Wild Mushroom.

  1. Classification and Performance: ARDEX FLEX FS is classified as CG2 WA according to BS EN 13888. This means it is an improved cementitious grout with enhanced properties, including reduced water absorption and high abrasion resistance.
  2. Versatile Applications: Suitable for grouting joints up to 4mm wide between various types of tiles, including porcelain, ceramic, non-moisture sensitive natural stone, quarry tiles, extruded tiles, and glass blockwork.
  3. Durability and Use: Once hardened, ARDEX FLEX FS is weather-resistant and unaffected by water, making it suitable for both internal and external applications, including wet areas and swimming pools with non-aggressive water.
  4. Application and Curing: It can be used on both wall and floor tiles and can withstand foot traffic after just 5 hours at 20°C. For areas exposed to chemical spillages or corrosive liquids, ARDEX WA Epoxide Adhesive and Grout or ARDEX EG 18 PLUS Epoxide Adhesive and Grout are recommended alternatives.

In summary, ARDEX FLEX FS provides a durable, flexible, and water-resistant grouting solution suitable for a wide range of tiling applications, ensuring reliable performance in both dry and wet environments.

Coverage: The amount of ARDEX FLEX FS needed will vary based on the size of the tiles, the width and depth of the joints, and the specific coverage rate. For ARDEX FLEX FS, the coverage rate is 1.5, meaning it will cover a certain area depending on these factors.

Storage and Shelf Life: Store ARDEX FLEX FS in its unopened packaging, off the ground, in a cool, dry place, and away from strong drafts. If stored correctly, it will remain effective for 12 months from the date printed on the packaging.

ARDEX-FLEX FS is classified under BS EN 13888 as CG2 WA, which means it is an advanced cement-based grout with enhanced properties. It offers reduced water absorption and high resistance to wear and tear.

  1. Tile Compatibility: It is ideal for grouting joints up to 4mm wide between various types of tiles, including porcelain, ceramic, non-moisture sensitive natural stone, quarry tiles, extruded tiles, and glass blockwork.
  2. Durability: Once set, ARDEX-FLEX FS is weather-resistant and unaffected by water. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, including in wet areas like swimming pools with non-aggressive water conditions.
  3. Application and Curing: This grout can be used on both wall and floor tiles and can handle foot traffic after just 5 hours at 20°C.
  4. Chemical Resistance: For areas where there may be chemical spills or corrosive liquids, it is better to use ARDEX WA Epoxide Adhesive and Grout or ARDEX EG 18 PLUS Epoxide Adhesive and Grout.

In summary, ARDEX-FLEX FS provides a durable, versatile, and water-resistant grouting solution suitable for a wide range of tiling projects.

Preparation: Make sure the tiles are securely installed and that the joints are clean and free from dust, excess adhesive, or leftover mortar.

Mix Proportions: For mixing ARDEX-FLEX FS, use the following proportions by volume:

  • 1 part water to 2.75 parts ARDEX-FLEX FS powder.
  • A 10kg bag of ARDEX-FLEX FS needs about 3 litres of water.
  • A 5kg bag requires about 1.5 litres of water.
  • A 2.5kg bag needs about 0.75 litres of water.

Mixing: Add the ARDEX-FLEX FS powder to the appropriate amount of clean water in a clean container. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is creamy and easy to work with. Let the mixed grout sit for at least 2 minutes to achieve the right consistency. The grout will stay workable for about 2.5 hours at 20°C and will be ready for foot traffic after approximately 5 hours. Note that higher temperatures will reduce the working time, while lower temperatures will extend it.

Application: Use a rubber squeegee or rubber-backed trowel to push the grout into the joints, ensuring they are fully filled. Remove excess grout as you go, and wipe off any residue on the tile surface with a damp sponge within 30 minutes of application. If grout residue remains after 30 minutes, use a fine mist from a spray bottle to help remove it. Any dry grout film left on the tiles can be polished off with a dry cloth once the grout has set.

Additional Notes: Apply grout at temperatures above 5°C. Some tiles, particularly ceramic, vitrified, porcelain, or natural stone tiles with textured, matte, or porous surfaces, might show discolouration. Test a small area first to check for any issues. For natural stone that might stain, consider using ARDEX MG Rapid Drying Marble and Natural Stone Grout. For intense grout colours, you may need a protective treatment on the tile surface to prevent grout from settling into the tile’s texture. For more details, refer to clause 6.5 of BS 5385-1: 2018 or consult the tile manufacturer for advice.
