Drive Alive Decking Oil is a ready-to-use nourishing oil that restores the natural oils lost through weathering, feeding the wood and providing a protective barrier against water penetration, which can cause swelling and warping. It is suitable for untreated, previously oiled, or weathered decking and offers UV resistance, prevents mould and algae build-up, and waterproofs the surface. The oil leaves a natural-looking finish and is ideal for all types of garden decking. Before application, ensure the decking is dry and avoid applying in wet conditions or if rain is imminent. Always test a small area first, shake the can thoroughly, and apply a flood coat using a quality brush or roller. After the first coat dries (approximately 6 hours), apply a second coat, and wait 24 hours before walking on the surface.
Key Points:
- Nourishes & Protects: Replaces natural oils and protects against water damage.
- UV & Mould Resistance: Prevents UV damage, mould, and algae growth.
- Waterproofs: Creates a barrier against water ingress.
- Easy Application: Ready-to-use with two coats and 24 hours of drying time before use.
Coverage: A 5-litre container provides enough for two coats, covering approximately 20m² of decking, while 2.5 litres will cover around 10m² for two coats.
Shelf Life: Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture when stored in the original, sealed containers.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in the original sealed container, between +5°C and +25°C. Protect from frost and keep out of direct sunlight.

Drive Alive Decking Oil offers natural-looking protection by replenishing the wood’s natural oils. It creates a protective barrier against water penetration, preventing swelling and warping caused by constant weathering. This oil is suitable for untreated, previously oiled, or weathered decking.
Preparation:
- New Decking: Allow the timber to weather for at least 6 months before applying DECKING OIL. To check if it’s ready, drop some water on the surface—if the water beads up, the decking does not require oil.
- Old Decking: Clean the surface with DECKING CLEANER to remove dirt, grease, oil, mildew, and other contaminants. Remove any loose or flaking material.
Application:
Ensure the decking is dry before application. Do not apply in wet conditions or when rain is expected. Shake the can thoroughly before use, and always test a small inconspicuous area first. Apply a flood coat with a good-quality brush or roller, and apply a second coat once the first coat has dried (approximately 6 hours). Allow 24 hours before walking on the deck. Typical drying time is between 6-24 hours, depending on weather conditions.
Note: DECKING OIL is for restoring and treating weathered timber only, not for new wood.
Cleaning of Tools:
Clean brushes thoroughly with WHITE SPIRIT after use.
Limitations:
Do not allow foot traffic until fully cured. Avoid applying in wet conditions, temperatures below +5°C, or above +30°C, and when rain is imminent.
