Bond It GLASS-MATE is a ready-to-use, one-part silicone adhesive that offers excellent unprimed adhesion to most mirror coatings. It provides outstanding resistance to heat, humidity, sunlight, ultraviolet radiation, and temperature extremes. Ideal for internal bonding, it is suitable for mirrors, glazed surfaces, ceramics, enamel, metals, PVCu, polycarbonate, and treated or untreated wood, adhering well to most common substrates.

Preparation:

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease or contaminants that may affect adhesion.

Application:

Cut the tip from the cartridge, taking care not to damage the screw thread. Cut the top of the nozzle at a 45° angle to an opening of approximately 10mm. Attach the nozzle and place the cartridge in a standard sealant gun. For glass thicknesses of 2 to 4mm, apply a 10mm bead of adhesive at 100mm intervals vertically on the back of the mirror or surface to be bonded. Position the mirror and apply even pressure, using temporary support (e.g., tape) while the adhesive cures. If sealing edges, wait 24 hours after fixing. For glass thicker than 6mm, mirrors larger than 1m², or mirrors on ceilings/sloping walls, GLASS-MATE must be used with mechanical fixings. This product is not suitable for safety-backed mirrors.

Cleaning:

Tools can be cleaned immediately with Bond It MULTI-WIPES or WHITE SPIRIT.

Limitations:

This product is unsuitable for structural glazing, aquarium assembly, jointing in swimming pools, submerged applications, or food-grade uses. It should not be used on surfaces that bleed oils or plasticisers. For mirrors with glass thicker than 6mm, those larger than 1m², or those on sloping walls/ceilings, mechanical fixings are required. Always perform an adhesion test on safety-backed mirrors before use.
