Application Instructions:
Ensure all surfaces are sound, stable, and free of dust, dirt, grease, oil, and loose matter. Cromaprufe can be applied to damp, but not waterlogged, surfaces. For porous or dry surfaces, dampen with clean cold water before applying the product. Stir well before use and apply by brush. Avoid application in wet weather or when rain is expected. Provide adequate ventilation in confined spaces. In multi-coat applications, allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
Waterproofing and Protection of Structures, Foundations, Retaining Walls, and Bridge Abutments:
Apply two coats, each at 2m² per litre. For foundations, ensure the coating meets the damp-proof course in the base or wall. Cromaprufe can be applied to green concrete after shuttering removal as a curing membrane, with 48 hours allowed before back-filling.
Concrete Beams and Columns:
For damp-proofing concrete beams and columns before cladding, apply two coats of Cromaprufe, each at 2m² per litre. When the second coat is tacky, blind it with 1-2mm stone chippings or clean sharp sand.
Walls and Floors:
For rising damp prevention, insert or repair the damp proof course. On exterior walls, remove all dirt and grease, level uneven surfaces with cement mortar, and apply three coats of Cromaprufe, each at 2m² per litre, blinding the final coat with clean sharp sand. For interior walls with moderate dampness, prepare the surface by removing wallpaper and dirt, then apply two coats, leaving a 300mm untreated section for moisture evaporation. Cromaprufe should not be used on interior walls below ground level due to water pressure concerns.
For floors, especially under severe conditions and penetrating damp, apply two coats of Cromaprufe at 1m² per litre to a clean concrete subfloor, blinding with sand while the second coat is still tacky. Ensure the Cromaprufe membrane meets the DPC, and avoid puncturing the dried film. Apply a top screed of at least 50mm, and allow it to dry before adding a floor covering.
For surface treatment on existing floors, dilute Cromaprufe with cold water (1:6), apply a priming coat, and follow with two coats of Cromaprufe, each at 1m² per litre.
As an Adhesive:
For wood blocks and mosaics, treat the floor as described for floors. Apply Cromaprufe to each wood block and press firmly into place, ensuring air is excluded. For wood mosaic panels, spread Cromaprufe at 0.8m² per litre, and place the panels immediately. On non-porous floors, let the Cromaprufe film become tacky before laying the panels. For underfloor heating, turn it off and allow the floor to cool before applying blocks or mosaics.
Plastering on Difficult Surfaces:
For surfaces with poor keying properties, such as gloss-painted walls or old tiles, apply two thin coats of Cromaprufe (4.5m² per litre each). While the second coat is still tacky, blind with clean sharp sand and allow 48 hours to dry before plastering.
Cleaning Tools:
Clean tools with warm water before Cromaprufe sets. Once set, scrape off excess product and use White Spirit to remove any remaining bitumen.
