Everbuild 702 Water Resistant Tile Adhesive is ideal for areas with prolonged water exposure, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and power shower spaces. It is designed for use with ceramic and porcelain wall tiles, as well as mosaics, and features an acrylic formula for enhanced slip resistance and high bond strength.
Substrate Quality and Pre-Treatment
- Plaster: New plaster must cure for at least 4 weeks before tiling. Tile only onto the finishing coat and prime with EVERBUILD® 503 SBR Bond diluted 1:3 with water.
- Plasterboard/Plywood/Chipboard: Brace with seasoned timber at 300 mm intervals vertically and horizontally. Use moisture-resistant grades. Seal all surfaces and edges with EVERBUILD® 503 SBR Bond diluted 1:4 with water.
- Sand/Cement Render: Allow at least 4 weeks for drying before tiling. Use a mix ratio of 3-4 parts sand to 1 part cement and prime with EVERBUILD® 503 SBR Bond.
- Brickwork/Blockwork/Concrete Block: Allow 4 weeks of drying before rendering or plastering. Do not fix tiles directly to blockwork.
- Existing Glazed Tiles/Formica: Roughen surfaces with an abrasive sander and prime with EVERBUILD® 503 SBR Bond diluted 1:1 with water. Apply adhesive while still tacky and allow at least 5 days before grouting.
- Painted Surfaces: Avoid applying directly to emulsion or limewash paints. Remove loose material and prime with EVERBUILD® 503 SBR Bond diluted 1:3 with water. For gloss paints, degrease and score to create a key for adhesion.
Application
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and sound. Apply adhesive at a depth of 3-6 mm using a notched trowel for dry areas, combing out no more than 1 m² at a time. For wet areas, apply adhesive directly and bed tiles securely with a slight twist action. Check periodically for at least 75% tile coverage. Reapply adhesive if coverage is insufficient.
Cleaning of Tools
Remove surplus adhesive while wet using a damp cloth or sponge, paying attention to grout lines.
Limitations
- Not suitable for floors or swimming pools (use EVERBUILD® 705 Rapid Set Tile Mortar for these applications).
- Not recommended for external use.
