EVERBUILD BLACK JACK 904 BITUMEN ROOF FELT ADHESIVE is a cold-applied, black, oxidized bitumen-based adhesive designed for bonding roofing felt to surfaces such as concrete, asphalt, metal, wood, and similar materials. It offers high bond strength and is also suitable for use as a cold-gritting solution.

Shelf Life: The storage life is 24 months when kept in tightly sealed, undamaged containers.
Storage Conditions: EVERBUILD BLACK JACK 904 BITUMEN ROOF FELT ADHESIVE contains a flammable solvent, so appropriate fire precautions must be observed during storage and use. Store in its original container in cool, dry conditions between 5°C and 25°C, away from sources of ignition.

EVERBUILD BLACK JACK 904 BITUMEN ROOF FELT ADHESIVE is ideal for bonding various types of roofing felts to metal, concrete, wood, and other roofing felts. It is also effective for sealing roofing felt laps and bonding chippings to the final layer of felt.
Surface Preparation:
Ensure the surface is dry, clean, and free from loose debris, rust, dirt, grease, algae, and fungal growth. Use a stiff-bristle brush to remove algae and fungi, then treat the surface with EVERBUILD FUNGICIDAL WASH to kill any remaining spores. For porous surfaces, apply a coat of BLACK JACK BLACK BITUMEN PRIMER and allow it to dry before proceeding.
Application:
Follow the felt-laying techniques outlined in BS 8217:1994. Apply EVERBUILD BLACK JACK 904 BITUMEN ROOF FELT ADHESIVE using a brush or mop, allowing it to dry for 15-30 minutes to achieve full tackiness. Carefully lay the felt into the wet adhesive, ensuring maximum contact and no air pockets, and weigh it down until fully adhered. For best results, unroll the felt into the adhesive and roll it with a lighter roller (approx. 25kg).
Lap Cement:
Laps at the edges should be at least 75mm wide, and roll end laps should be at least 150mm. Treat the underside of the laps and edges generously with EVERBUILD BLACK JACK 904 BITUMEN ROOF FELT ADHESIVE and compact them well.
Timber Roofs:
For timber roof structures, the first layer of felt must be nailed down in compliance with BS 8217:1994. The second and third layers can be bonded using EVERBUILD BLACK JACK 904 BITUMEN ROOF FELT ADHESIVE.
Concrete and Lightweight Concrete Screeds:
These porous surfaces need priming with BLACK JACK BITUMEN AND FLASHING PRIMER for successful adhesion. Ensure the primer is fully dry before applying the first layer of felt.
Aftercare:
Check all bonding, especially at the laps, 24 hours after laying to ensure full adhesion. Press or roll any areas that appear lacking in adhesion.
As a Cold-Gritting Solution:
EVERBUILD BLACK JACK 904 BITUMEN ROOF FELT ADHESIVE can be used for gritting roofs with a slope up to 10°. Apply the adhesive evenly across 20-square-metre sections, and immediately spread chippings onto the wet film, ensuring full coverage. Leave the surface for at least 72 hours before lightly brushing off excess chippings.
Cleaning of Tools:
Clean tools with paraffin or white spirit. Wipe off any spillages before the adhesive sets.
Limitations:
Avoid using in areas where solvent contact is likely and prevent inhalation of vapors in confined spaces.
