Hodgson Sealants Firestrip 60 is specifically designed for securing semi-insulating and insulating glass in timber fire doors or hardwood timber screens, utilizing hardwood beads. APPLICATION
Surface Preparation: Ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, and devoid of frost, grease, and loose materials.
Application: Establish a set of glazing beads to act as a rebate if the opening is not already rebated. Position pins or screws at a 45° angle. Apply Firestrip 60 along the rebate upstand at the top, using the edge of the backing paper along the rebate platform, ensuring the strip aligns with the sightline. For larger rebates, lifting the paper above the platform may be necessary to ensure Firestrip 60 reaches the sightline.
Repeat this process for the sides and bottom rebate. Remove the backing paper and ensure corner joints butt against each other without overlapping. Position setting blocks.
Center the glass within the frame on the setting blocks. Apply firm pressure around the glass’s edge to ensure it makes contact with the surface of Firestrip 60.
Apply Firestrip 60 to the glass in a manner similar to its application on the upstands, either by running the edge of the paper along the rebate platform or directly onto the beads. Remove the backing paper.
Press the beads against Firestrip 60, ensuring a solid connection. Secure the beads with pins or screws according to the installation’s design requirements. Position pins or screws at a 45° angle to pass under the glass. Trim any excess Firestrip® 60 above the sightline with a sharp knife.
