APPLICATION

PROPERTIES

  • Application temperature range: Recommended for use within the range of +5°C to +40°C.
  • Shelf life: Maintains its quality for 18 months.
  • Skinning time: Typically, a skin forms in 15-30 minutes.
  • Working time: Offers a working time of 15-30 minutes.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Joint design: Before application, please refer to the Technical Information Sheet titled ‘Joint design for cartridge-based products’ for detailed guidance.
  • Surface preparation: Ensure that all surfaces are meticulously cleaned, dry, and devoid of frost, grease, and loose materials. If deemed necessary, apply primer. For situations where a bond breaker is needed to prevent bonding at the base of the joint, make the necessary installations. In most cases, substrates only require priming if testing indicates the need or when the sealant will be exposed to water immersion post-cure. To prepare the cartridge, cut the top of the screw thread off and attach the nozzle. Adjust the nozzle’s diameter to match the joint size. Apply the sealant into the joint using either a skeleton or powered gun, ensuring robust contact with the surfaces. For deep joints, using Hodgson Backing Rod is vital to ensure proper joint formation. If an exceptionally neat finish is required, consider using masking tape to cover the face edges of the joint, removing it promptly once the tooling is complete.
  • Tooling: Tool the sealant immediately after application, ensuring that it’s done within the specified working time for the product. Unwanted cured product can be removed from glass using a window scraper.

LIMITATIONS

  • Avoid employing it in the construction of aquariums.
  • Refrain from using it with plastics like PP, PE, PTFE, or other materials with low surface energy. Consider the use of HS10 Primer to enhance adhesion on non-porous substrates.
  • Not recommended for bitumen, marble, or natural stone applications.
  • Unsuitable for use in glazing applications.
