MAPESONIC CR is an under-floor soundproofing system designed to be applied as a thin layer to reduce noise transmission through floors caused by footsteps. Specifically developed for use in existing buildings, it enhances soundproofing without the need to remove existing floors and screeds. This makes it an ideal solution for various types of structures, including residential units, hotels, offices, nursing homes, and schools undergoing renovation. MAPESONIC CR is suitable for laying ceramic flooring (including large formats), stone materials, multi-layered parquet, laminate, floating parquet, and resilient floors such as PVC, rubber, and linoleum.

Mapesonic CR is suitable for application on all types of cementitious or anhydrite substrates, provided they are well-cured, mechanically strong, coherent, dry, flat, and free of cracks, dust, and debris that could impair adhesion. If there are cracks, they should be repaired using Eporip, Eporip Turbo, or Epojet. If the moisture content in cementitious substrates exceeds acceptable levels, allow adequate drying time or apply a waterproof primer such as Eco Prim PU 1K, Primer MF, Triblock P, or Primer PU 60 to create a vapor barrier. Mapesonic CR can also be installed over old ceramic and stone floor coverings, provided they are securely bonded and cleaned of contaminants like grease, oil, or wax. Uneven surfaces and areas with fittings (like electric cables or pipes) must be levelled prior to installation.

Application Procedure:

Preparation: Before removing the protective plastic backing, apply Mapesonic Strip adhesive tape around the room’s perimeter and around pillars or other abutments. Ensure that the product is laid in a continuous layer, paying particular attention to corners and joints.

Installation: On clean, dry surfaces, unroll Mapesonic CR sheets in the direction of the room’s longest side and allow them to acclimatize for 24 hours before cutting to size. Spread the appropriate adhesive based on the substrate characteristics on the exposed surface before folding the sheets back into position.

Adhesives: Use Ultrabond Eco V4 SP for absorbent substrates, and sililated, polyurethane, or epoxy-polyurethane adhesives for non-absorbent surfaces. For ceramic tiles and stone, employ C2 S1 cementitious adhesives. Avoid applying excessive pressure until the adhesive has set.

Finishing Touches: After 24-48 hours, new floor finishes can be bonded. Once grouted, trim the excess Mapesonic Strip, and install skirting without direct contact with the floor, sealing the gap with a flexible sealant. For further guidance, refer to the specific technical data sheets available on MAPEI’s website.
