Ultrabond Eco PU 2K is a two-component, solvent-free, elastic, and waterproof adhesive made from a polyurethane base (component A) and a special catalyst (component B), designed for use in the construction industry. It boasts a very low emission level of volatile organic compounds (EMICODE EC1 Plus). When the components are mixed, they create a paste that is highly workable and provides excellent durability and resistance to aging. This adhesive offers perfect adhesion to various substrates, hardens through a chemical reaction without shrinking, and forms a strong, tough bond. Its high elasticity allows for application on vertical surfaces without slumping or causing large, heavy tiles to slip, making it suitable for users allergic to epoxy products. Additionally, the product’s slip resistance meets EN 12004 standards.
Key Points:
Two-Component System: Ultrabond Eco PU 2K consists of a polyurethane base and a special catalyst, resulting in a strong and durable bond.
Low Emissions: It has a very low emission level of volatile organic compounds, classified as EMICODE EC1 Plus, making it environmentally friendly.
Excellent Performance: The adhesive offers high elasticity and can be applied to vertical surfaces without slumping, ensuring large tiles stay in place.
Compatibility and Safety: Suitable for various substrates and ideal for users with allergies to epoxy and epoxy-polyurethane products.

Designed for bonding ceramic tiles, stone tiles, and various types of mosaics to both interior and exterior wall and floor substrates commonly used in the construction industry, Ultrabond Eco PU 2K can be applied to screeds, render, concrete, cement-bonded panels, gypsum, plasterboard, and prefabricated gypsum panels. It is also effective on challenging substrates, including metal, PVC, and polyester. Application examples include: bonding ceramic and stone tiles in showers and on sheet steel for prefabricated bathrooms; adhering ceramic and mosaic tiles to wooden work surfaces and kitchen countertops; installing tiles and mosaics on balconies, terraces, accessible roofs, and domed roofs; bonding recomposed and natural stone materials that experience significant movement and dimensional changes due to water exposure; and securing ceramic and stone tiles on substrates that undergo high vibrations and deformation.
Substrate Preparation
Before applying Ultrabond Eco PU 2K, ensure that substrates are well-cured, strong, and free from loose particles, grease, oil, paint, wax, or any contaminants. They should also be sufficiently dry, with cementitious substrates not shrinking after tile bonding. For optimal results, render should cure for at least one week for each centimetre of thickness, and cement screeds should cure for a minimum of 28 days, unless using special MAPEI ready-mixed screed binders like Mapecem, Mapecem Pronto, Topcem, or Topcem Pronto. Metal substrates must be sandblasted to eliminate rust, while gypsum and anhydrite surfaces should be consolidated with a coat of Primer EP or Primer MF.
Preparation of the Mix
Ultrabond Eco PU 2K comes in two pre-measured containers: Component A (grey or white) and Component B (brown), with a mixing ratio of 88 parts by weight for Component A to 12 parts for Component B. Adhere strictly to this ratio, as any deviation may compromise the product’s hardening process. Pour Component B into Component A and mix with a low-speed electric mixer until a smooth, consistent paste is formed. It’s essential to blend slowly to prevent overheating, which can reduce workability. The adhesive should be applied within 30 to 40 minutes after mixing.
Spreading the Mix
Apply an even layer of Ultrabond Eco PU 2K to the substrate using a notched spreader, ensuring that at least 65-70% of the tile back is wetted. For exterior tile bonding, ensure complete wetting of the tile backs. If using the adhesive for both waterproofing and bonding, such as on wooden kitchen countertops, first apply a 1 mm thick layer of Ultrabond Eco PU 2K for waterproofing with a straight spreader. Once the first layer has hardened (within 24 hours), follow with a second layer using a notched spreader.
Bonding Tiles
Tiles should always be dry before bonding. Press them firmly into the adhesive to ensure complete contact and wetting of the tile backs. When the adhesive also serves as a waterproof layer, ensure that the ribs on the back of the tiles do not penetrate entirely through the adhesive. For bonding tiles to deformable substrates, position tiles larger than 5×5 cm with sufficient gaps between them to allow for movement.
