Ultralite D2 is a lightweight, water-dispersion adhesive formulated with acrylic resins, lightweight fillers, and additives. This ready-to-use paste offers excellent initial grab and a viscosity that allows for easy trowelling on vertical surfaces.

Applicable in both commercial and residential shower and wet areas.
Compatible with slightly larger format porous-bodied ceramic tiles, including sizes up to 350 mm x 350 mm or variants such as 500 mm x 200 mm.

- Adhering tiles to plasterboard, plaster walls, and tile backer boards.
- Bonding to well-adhered painted surfaces.
- Installing tiles over existing tile surfaces.
- Fixing tiles to render walls.
- Applying tiles over MAPEI waterproof membranes.
Preparation of the Substrate
Substrates must be flat, clean, and free of oil, grease, wax, crazing, loose particles, laitance, and any residual or standing water. They should be dry and cured in accordance with BS 5385 Part 1, strong enough to support the imposed load, and fully supported to prevent deflection. Any existing paint must be securely bonded to the substrate.
Applying the Product
Use a suitable notched trowel to apply the adhesive to the substrate, ensuring a minimum coverage of 65% for tiles in dry service areas and 100% for those in wet service areas. The adhesive can be combed on the substrate and back buttered on the tile’s reverse, but the total thickness of the adhesive should not exceed 5 mm.
Installing the Tiles
The open time of the adhesive under normal temperature and humidity conditions is approximately 30 minutes, during which the tiles must be installed. If the adhesive develops a skin, it should be removed and replaced with fresh adhesive. Press the tiles firmly into the wet adhesive, using a twisting or sliding motion to ensure good contact between the tile, adhesive, and wall. Periodically lift tiles to verify that adequate adhesive coverage has been achieved.
