Ultraplan Renovation Screed 3240 is designed for interior levelling, smoothing, and filling thickness differences ranging from 3 to 40 mm on various surfaces, including new or existing concrete, screeds, stone, terrazzo, ceramic tiles, and old or new timber floors, such as floorboards, chipboard panels, and plywood (minimum P5 grade). It serves as an underlayment in dry locations for various floor finishes, including tile, stone, vinyl, carpet, and wood flooring. This screed is particularly suitable for applications requiring good load resistance, making it ideal for areas subjected to castor wheel traffic and for use under floor and under tile heating systems.
Application
Ultraplan Renovation Screed 3240 should be applied in a single coat with a thickness ranging from 3 to 40 mm. To minimize aeration, a spiked roller can be used. The screed’s self-levelling properties ensure a smooth surface that is ready to accept various types of floor coverings.
Preparation of the Substrate
The substrate must be solid and free from dust, loose particles, paint, oil, gypsum residues, or other contaminants that could compromise the bond. Timber substrates should be clean and securely fixed, with open joints sealed using Planiprep Fix. Any inadequately compacted cementitious surfaces must either be removed or consolidated using Prosfas or Primer EP. Cracks in the substrate should be repaired with Eporip. Before applying Ultraplan Renovation Screed 3240, the substrate should be primed with Eco Prim Grip Plus or Eco Prim T Plus. For marine applications, a thin coat of MAPEI Eco Prim Marine should be applied to the clean, dry surface without leaving any pools of primer, allowing it to dry for 35-40 minutes before proceeding with MAPEI Ultraplan Renovation Screed 3240.
Preparing the Mix
To prepare the mix, pour a 25 kg bag of Ultraplan Renovation Screed 3240 into a bucket containing 4.25-4.5 litres of clean water. Mix with a low-speed electric mixer until achieving a homogeneous, self-levelling, lump-free consistency. Larger quantities can be prepared in suitable mixers. After mixing, let the mixture slacken for 2-3 minutes, then restir it before use. The mixed Ultraplan Renovation Screed 3240 must be used within 20 minutes at a temperature of +23°C.
