Sika Sanisil is an acetoxy-curing, permanently flexible sanitary silicone designed for long-term resistance to fungus and mildew. It features high elasticity and flexibility, ensuring durability in various applications. The sealant cures quickly with low dirt pickup and maintains its color over time, even in humid or damp conditions. Additionally, it offers excellent UV and weathering resistance, adheres well to ceramics, acrylic, laminate, metal, and glass, and is completely solvent-free.

Key Points:

  • Long-Term Protection – Resists fungus, mildew, UV, and weathering.
  • Flexible & Durable – High elasticity for long-lasting performance.
  • Fast Curing & Clean Finish – Quick drying with low dirt pickup.
  • Strong Adhesion & Safe Formula – Bonds well to multiple surfaces and is solvent-free.

Shelf Life & Storage Conditions: Sika Sanisil has a shelf life of 24 months from the production date when stored in its original, sealed, and undamaged packaging under proper conditions. It should be kept in a dry environment, protected from direct sunlight, and maintained at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. Avoid exposure to frost.

Sika Sanisil is suitable for both interior and exterior use, making it ideal for sealing areas with high humidity or condensation. It is perfect for sealing around baths, showers, basins, sanitaryware, worktops, and laminates. Additionally, it can be used for cap sealing on metal, timber, and PVCu window frames, as an adhesive for fixing PVCu trims and panels, and for general weatherproofing applications.

APPLICATION

Substrate Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust. Remove any loose or flaking coatings, old sealant, or mastic before application. For optimal adhesion, clean glass, metal, and aluminum with a proprietary solvent cleaner. Porous surfaces may require priming—test a small area first. For further guidance, contact our Technical Service Department.

Application Method & Tools
Follow the recommended joint ratios. If necessary, reduce joint depth using EVERFLEX EXPANDING FILL AND FIX FOAM or a joint backer rod. Ensure adhesion is limited to two surfaces, as three-sided adhesion can reduce flexibility.

Cut the cartridge tip carefully to avoid damaging the thread, attach the nozzle, and cut at a 45° angle with an opening slightly larger than the gap. Apply using a standard sealant gun, maintaining even pressure and a consistent angle. Smooth down within 10 minutes using a spatula or wood wetted with a soap and water solution. For a cleaner finish, use masking tape on both sides of the joint and remove it within five minutes of application.

Cleaning of Tools
Clean tools and application equipment immediately after use with Sika® Remover-208. Once cured, residual material can only be removed mechanically.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for use with bitumen or asphalt—use Everbuild Weather Mate instead.
  • Avoid using on highly porous surfaces like new concrete or stonework; priming is recommended, or use Sika Plastix 22A.
  • Not compatible with substrates that may bleed oils, solvents, or plasticizers.
  • Do not use near or with the edge sealant of double-glazed units—use Sika Plastix 22A.
  • Not suitable for perimeter pointing of uPVC—use Sika Plastix 22A.
  • Avoid use on soft metals like lead or brass—use Sika® Lead & Gutter Sealant instead.
  • Non-overpaintable; if overpainting is required, use Everbuild Weather Mate.
